Obituary of Waverley "Pat" Moorhead

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Waverley William George Moorhead who passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. 

Waverley, fondly known as Pat, was born to the late Clarence and Annie-May Moorhead on August 15, 1935 in Campbell’s Bay, Quebec. Predeceased by his loving wife Joy and his beloved younger brother Dawson and his sister Vera. Forever cherished father of Shelley (Ertug Gurhan) and doting grandfather of Nev and Ven. 

Cherished brother-in-law of Marilyn Peppard (late Doug), late Shirley Hodgins, Margaret Howard (Brent) and Elgin Nicholas (Cindy). Adored uncle and great uncle to many loving nieces and nephews. 

With silver hair and gold in his heart, he unconditionally loved his family and friends. He was a great storyteller, the biggest hug giver, an eternal optimist, and always thankful, loving, caring and supportive. The grief of our loss may be with us for a long time, but the joy of our memories will stay forever. 

Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, August 23 in the Shawville United Church at 11 a.m. followed by an Irish Celebration of Life at the Campbell’s Bay Recreation Centre from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Rudy Shankman Hospice https://www.hospicecareottawa.ca/donate.html where Pat spent his last 10 days supported by their loving care team comprised of incredibly compassionate medical professionals and volunteers or to the Friends of St. Joseph’s Manor in Campbell’s Bay.
