Obituary of Doris Holmes (nee Lacroix)

On July 30^th 2023, Doris Lacroix Holmes passed away peacefully in Shawville, Quebec at Centre D’Acceuil Pontiac (CAP), surrounded by her family at the age of 85.  “Dodi” was born on February 19th 1938, and raised in Sutton Quebec.  She was the loving wife of the late Robert Holmes for 44 years.  Beloved mother of Debbie (Denver), Joanne (Gerry), late Caroline (Lorne), Mary (Mike) and Catherine (Alain).  Cherished grandmother of Crystal (Jeff), Tammy (Mark), Adam, Christopher (Jammie), Kayla (Ron), Karly (Dan), Hailey (Stroud), Jaimey and Jackson.  Survived by her 9 great grandchildren; Logan, Gavin, Hazel, Audrey, Hope, Holly, Oliver, Owen and Hunter.  Daughter of the late Albert Lacroix and Millie Lefebvre.  Sister of Ronald (Pam), Christine (Billy). Late Gwen, Shirley (Andre) and Lawrence.  Survived by many loved nieces and nephews.  “Dodi” was the central figure in the lives of her children and grandchildren and she was the star in their eyes which is all that ever mattered to her.  She was the rock of the family and a pillar of the community providing love and support where needed.  Despite her large family, Dodi always made time for family and friends in need.  She loved playing cards and frustrated many who tried to beat her.  Doris operated Holmes’ store and worked for Lasalle’s bus lines for many years alongside her husband. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated  on Saturday, August 5^th 2023 in St. Edwards Church,  Bristol, Quebec at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in parish cemetery.   A Celebration of Life will follow at Shawville Fairgrounds, 215 Lang, Shawville, Quebec  in the handicraft building.
