Obituary of Ruth Ann Atkinson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Ann Atkinson who left us suddenly at home on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the age of 70.

Ruth was the devoted mother to Michael (Angela) and Jonathan (Krystal) and the cherished grandmother (affectionately known as Nanny) to Ava, Braeden, Parker and Ashton and her three grand fur babies Gunnar, Willow and Sherman.  Beloved sister of Les (Monique) and predeceased by John (Linda).  Ruth will be deeply missed by her niece Kristen and her nephews Gregory and Philip.  She has been greeted in the next life by her loving parents Cyrus Atkinson and Helen Poole as well as many others who have passed before her, including her brother John and her fur baby Tiger. 

Ruth loved life to the fullest.  We will miss her laughter, selflessness, and her knowledge of all things related to health.  We will forever remember her as a kind-hearted soul who was always willing to lend a helping hand and to drop everything she was doing to look after anyone who needed her help.  Her grandchildren meant the world to her and their zest for life kept her young at heart.  Whether it was playing endless hours of MineCraft and trying out Virtual Reality; or cheering on the kids at baseball games and dance recitals, she was always there wanting to experience life right along with them.  Ruth leaves behind a generation of determined, strong-willed children, daughters-in-law and grandchildren who will undoubtedly make her very proud.

Bring your favorite memory of Ruth to a Celebration of her Life to be held on Saturday, July 8^th 2023 from 1-4 p.m. at the Shawville United Church, 410 Main Street, Shawville, Quebec.  Food and beverages will be served. 

Ruth was a dedicated nurse even through her retirement.  Donations can be made to the Shawville hospital via the Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation - Dialysis Unit (It is easier than ever to give to the Foundation – FHC Pontiac).
