Obituary of Edward Brazeau
It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to a loving husband of 55 years, a brother, an uncle and a friend. Edward Brazeau passed away peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital on the evening of Sunday, March 5th 2023, he would have been 80 on March 20. He was the beloved husband of Theresa Brazeau (nee O’Connor). Edward was born and raised in Pembroke and moved to Gatineau where he met the love of his life, Theresa. He loved his work in construction and proudly built their home on Richardson’s Lake in Clarendon, Quebec where they lived until moving to Beachburg and then Pembroke. His dry sense of humour was enjoyed by everyone he met. An example of his humour was his last intelligible words to Theresa, “If you’re going to cry, just go home!” (He never could stand tears.) In his last days, he was surrounded by family and friends: his niece Tracy and her husband Steve; his sister-in-law Barbara and her husband Bob; his brother-in-law Ken and his wife Charlotte; his friends Thoburn and Shirley Caldwell and friend Patty Moffat; as well as Pastor Paul DeGraaf and friend Judy Cote who were constantly by Ed’s side, providing support for Theresa.
He will be missed by all his nieces and nephews, his dear sister Marie Bertrand (late Laurier) and his sister Ursula Briand (late Hugh). He is predeceased by his sisters; Diane Gravel, Marlyn O'Brien, Theresa Brunette and by brothers; Denis, George, Joseph, Robert and Kenneth Brazeau as well as his parents Lorenzo and Mabel (nee Poole) Brazeau.
Special thanks go to the Ottawa General Hospital staff for the compassionate care that was shown to Edward by Dr. Watterson and his team, Dr. Haggerty and her team and all of the nursing staff. As well, thanks goes to the Pembroke General Hospital’s nursing staff and the excellent PSW staff from Access Healthcare Services who cared for him at home, before he was hospitalized.
As per Edward’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A service celebrating Edward’s life and his faith will be held at a later date in Shawville, Quebec.
In memory of Edward, donations can be sent to New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, 586 Main Street, Shawville, Quebec, J0X 2Y0 and / or Calvary Baptist Church, 567 Melton Street, Pembroke, Ontario, K8A 6Y3.
