Anina Gundersen

Obituary of Anina Gundersen

It is with great sadness to announce that Anina Gundersen passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at her cottage at Hann Lake, Quebec. Anina was 76 year old and succumbed by a sudden brain aneurysm.

Anina was a devoted, caring health provider for most of her life, always helping others.  She worked many years at Rideauwood Center in Ottawa, where she assisted those with various mental issues.  In her spare time she taught yoga and spiritual awareness in Ottawa.  She was constantly learning, and would absorb any knowledge about healthy living like a sponge to water.  In her early years she lived in France and worked as a English translator.  An avid skier, and outdoor person, she loved nature.  She travelled extensively, broadening her knowledge of the world and the people around her.  Later, she developed culinary skills that allowed her to run several small restaurants with the emphasis on healthy eating.  A true animal lover, she devoted caring to the countless dogs that were part of her life. Anina loved life and the beauty it contained.  She’d talk about any subject, except politics as it would get her too emotional.  She had an infectious laugh; one you knew instinctively was her, as she would light up any room.

She is survived by her partner Bruce Mitchell of Ottawa, her brother Chris Gundersen (Verna) of Bath, her son Adam Lord (Christine) of Ottawa, her daughter Zoe Croissant (Philippe) of France, and grandchildren Anouk, Noëlie, Fox and Sawyer.

She is predeceased by her mother Sylvia Price of Calgary; father George Gundersen of Ottawa and her sister Abby Paulson of Calgary.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, December 17, 2022 in the Chapel of the Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec at 11 a.m.

Donations can be made to a health related charity or animal shelter in Anina’s name.

A private celebration of life will be held this summer at the lake which she loved.
