Obituary of Mae McCann (nee Foran)

Proud founder of McCann’s Chips in Quyon, Quebec It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our Mom, Mae McCann on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the age of 85 years. Mae passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family at the Pontiac Community Hospital. Predeceased by her husband, Ervin McCann. Beloved mother of Brian (Stephanie), Dennis (Wendy), Barry, Audrey (Joey), Sandra (Dale) and Donald (Leslie). Treasured “Grannie Mae” to Stephen (Alaina), Tyler, Allison, Amanda, Caitlin, Aidan and Caleb. Special Grandma to Chloe, Zach, Beau and Riley. Predeceased by her parents, Harry and Annie Foran, her sisters Mildred (Alban) and Gladys (Stanley), brothers Vincent (Mary), Michael (Rena), Dominic (Bunny), Leo (Patricia), Ambrose (Francis) and Clement (Joan) and brothers-in-law Clarence (Dwyla) and David (Joan) and sisters-in-law Ruby (Bernie) and Geraldine. Survived by sister Loretta (late Bill) and sisters-in-law Francis Foran, Joan Foran and Joan McCann. Mae was a cherished Aunt to many loved nieces and nephews. Ervin and Mae established the famous McCann’s Chips, which they ran for over 40 years in Quyon, Quebec. Mae was well known for her love of animals, especially her cherished little “Lily”. Mae treasured her home which was always surrounded by her wonderful neighbours and countless friends. Mae’s Catholic faith was important to her as well as her Irish roots and love of music. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to the doctors and nurses of Shawville hospital for their outstanding and diligent care. A private funeral service will be held in St. Mary’s Church, Quyon, Quebec on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 1 p.m. Friends are invited to attend the interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery at 2 p.m. while maintaining social distancing. In memoriam donations may be made to the Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation or the Outaouais SPCA. When conditions permit, a community celebration of Mae’s life will take place.
