Obituary of Olivette Mason (nee St. Aubin)

8 Jan 1947 – 28 March 2019

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Olivette Mason (nee St-Aubin) at the age of 72, on the 28th of March, 2019, at the Shawville Hospital. Following a short but courageous battle with cancer, her strength, love and faith was unwavering. She passed away peacefully, holding the hands of her family.

Beloved wife of Gary Mason (deceased Oct 1997), deeply loved mother of John (Jennifer Sloan) and Joanne (Ryan Wood), cherished and proud “Gran” of Keira (13), Garrett (11) and Nolan (3), dearly loved by her brothers, Florian (Madeleine), Fidel (Louise), Vital (Donna) and Amable (Karen) St-Aubin, and adoring sister Adele (Glen) Bretzlaff, and cousin Alvine (Michel) St-Aubin who she called ‘sis’.

She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, family and friends, including her uncle Medard Allard. Predeceased by her loving mother Florence (nee Allard) and Father Maxime (St-Aubin), Mother-in-law (Maudie) and father-in-law (John Mason Sr).

Olivette was always the life of the party and enjoyed dancing, singing, playing cards, darts, going on outings with the Red Hat ladies, but most of all enjoying time with family and friends. A devout Catholic, she contributed much of her time to the Church and volunteering whenever she could. Always selfless in her actions, putting others first and looking out for those she loved and adored.

Family was everything to Olivette. She leaves a legacy of love, courage, generosity and kindness. Our angel has been granted her wings, and taken her flight to heaven to be with her one true love and all of those who have gone before her.

Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will take place in St. Charles Borromeo Church, Otter Lake, Quebec on Wednesday, April 3 at 11 a.m. Interment in the spring in the Parish Cemetery, Otter Lake.  In memory of Olivette, please consider a donation to the Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation - Palliative Care Unit.
