Obituary of Hazel Dupuis

Hazel - wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was born October 31st, 1922 in Fort Coulonge, Quebec. She passed on peacefully Saturday April 19th, 2014 at the age of 91. Hazel was an active member of her community right up until her illness in September 2013. She was a very caring and loving parent, mentor and friend to many. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Gerard Dupuis of 65 years, her sisters Jean, Theresa and Emily as well as her brother Marshal. She will be greatly missed by her sister Gabrielle, her children Elizabeth, Kathryn and Margaret and their spouses and close friends Don Wong, Aline Dyelle and Dan Berube, her grandchildren Isaac, Garrett (Courtney), Jacob (Erin), step-grandchildren Ashley and Krystal, her great grandchildren Max, Masson and Ronin, as well as family and friends. The family would like to send out a special thank you to “Residence Dianne Denault” and her staff, who were very dedicated to Hazel’s care over the last 6 months, along with the Staff of the Shawville Hospital who assisted in her dying moments. Friends and family may call in at the Fort Coulonge Funeral Home on Sunday, May 4th, 2014 from 1 to 5pm and on Monday May 5th, 2014 from 11 am to 1pm. A funeral service will be held at Eglise St. Pierre in Fort Coulonge at 1pm, followed by her burial at 2pm. Hazel was well known by many for having assisted numerous students during her teaching career as well as during her retirement. In her honor, a Bursary will be set up for donations: “The Hazel Dupuis Educational Fund for Perseverance”. This will be organized through Pontiac High School. Her legacy will live on through those students whose hard work reaps success.
