Obituary of Alexander James Cobb

Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame Inductee 1998 Peacefully, in Garden Terrace, Kanata, Ontario on December 30, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Born in Twin Lakes, Ontario (Kapuskasing) on May 14, 1929. Husband of the late Brenda Knipe. Son of the late Russell Cobb and Amelia Zimmerling. Predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth (late Ivan Dagg) on November 18, 2016. Survived by his nieces Connie (Doug Drake), Vancouver, B.C. and Wendy (Ross Taylor), Ladysmith, Quebec and nephew Dan Dagg of Ottawa, as well as 7 great nieces and nephews and 6 great great nieces and nephews. Alex took up fiddling at the age of 9 years and in his teens formed the Moonlight Ramblers band which played for many years throughout the region. Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Sunday, January 8, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be no visitation on service day. Funeral Monday, January 9 in St. James Anglican Church, Otter Lake, Quebec at 11 a.m. Interment in the Spring in parish cemetery.
