Obituary of Reid Scobie Young

April 19, 1933 - February 18, 2021 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Reid Scobie Young. He was the loving and caring son of the late Bay and Velva (Scobie) Young. He leaves behind his brother Ralph (Nancy) and sister Mona MacKechnie (late Laurie). Predeceased by Claude (late Birdie), Graham (Doris), Erna Davis (late Ken), Garry (late Brenda), Brent (Elizabeth) and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by his niece, Donna Kennedy (MacKechnie), who supported him and helped him navigate his final years. Reid was a proud Public Servant, holding numerous positions in the federal government for 35 years. An academic at heart, Reid attended night classes at Carleton University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts - the first in his family to achieve this goal. His belief in the importance of higher education drove him to encourage and support his nieces and nephews who strived to follow in his footsteps. Reid excelled at many hobbies: He was known for his immaculate flower gardens, stunning photography, and an eye for antiques and collectibles. For many years you could find him at the Stittsville Flea Market buying and selling his wares. He’ll be long remembered for his love of flashy Ford Mustangs and the care he gave them. In memory of Reid donations can be made to the Quyon Pastoral Charge, a church very dear to his heart. A graveside service will take place later in 2021.
