Obituary of Anita Stewart

It is with great sadness that the family of Anita Alexander Stewart announces the passing of their mother on January 1, 2020 at the age of 85 years. Anita was born July 27, 1934 in North Onslow Quebec. Loving mother to Deborah May Majeau (predeceased), Edgar Leslie Stewart (Michaila), Hughie Bradford Stewart (Sandy), Laurie Elizabeth Laurin and Tracey Lynn Smith. Cherished grandmother to Jason (Katie), Kelly, Derrick (Jessica), Ashley, Chelsea (Trevor), Dayna, Marissa (Tom), Ivie, Brody, Sandy’s boys Adam and Nick and Michaila’s girls Olivia and Delilah. Great-grandmother to Teagan, Debriyah, Ethan, Fiona and Sophia. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews , cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Leslie James Stewart, parents Gerald and Clara Alexander, brothers Basil, Lawrence and Denzil, and sister Alberna (Len). Survived by sister-in-law Margaret Alexander, brother-in-law Revel Stewart, sister-in-law Margaret Wickens, and sister-in-law Irene Stewart. Anita was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing cards, listening to country music, watching the square dances and the Bagpipes which reminded her of her Scottish roots. Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville on Monday, January 6 from 12:00 pm-2:00pm, with service to follow in the Chapel at 2:00 pm. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery. Thank you to the staff at Tubman’s Senior Home in Shawville for her years of care there. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Trillium Villa Nursing home in Sarnia, Ontario for the exceptional care and warmth that they gave to our mother in the last years of her life.
