Obituary of Helen Laliberté (née Quinn)

At 12:10 pm on July 19, 2019, following a sudden and very brief illness, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Laliberté (née Quinn), more affectionately known as “Bobby” to all who knew and loved her.  She quietly passed at the Shawville Community Hospital surrounded by family members.  Born in 1935 into an Irish family in Perkins, Quebec, Helen was one of five children to Bennett and Mary Quinn (née Murphy). Pre-deceased by her brothers Dave and Ernie and surviving family, her sister Shirley and brother Steve.  Also leaving behind her sisters-in-law, June Quinn and Lorna Quinn.  Helen was a loving and devoted wife to Fernand Laliberté for 60 wonderful years and mother to three children, David (Michelle), Dennis (Katherine) and Linda (Steve). She raised her three children with care and compassion and taught them the values of life. Her many passions in life included teaching and serving the community but greatest amongst all was family.  She truly was the glue that held us all together.  Her love of children led her to a life of teaching. She dedicated many years to this passion and continually went far beyond the standard curriculum, always looking for ways to make lessons more interesting and enjoyable for her students.  She had dedicated many years towards preparing young children for the Holy Sacraments which was effortless given her strong faith in the Catholic religion.  She devoted a lot of her time to the church, its activities, and events. Her volunteerism in the Catholic Woman’s League and Red Hat Society were held very near and dear to her heart.  She leaves behind her precious grandchildren Ryan, Andrea, Christianne, Kelsey, Lilija, Heather, Vanessa, Christopher, Adam, Haleigh, David, Joshua, Damian, Phillip and her dear great-grandchildren, Avery, Jordan, Chloe and Gabriel.  She will be dearly missed by all of her nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank the compassionate care givers at the Palliative Care Centre and nurses and doctors at the Pontiac Community Hospital.  A very special thank you to Fr. Goring for his prayers and support throughout her final days.  Thank you to the wonderful community of Campbell’s Bay for your generosity and support through this difficult time.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 in  St. John the Evangelist Church, Campell’s Bay, Quebec at 1 p.m.  Interment in the Parish Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life, Irish Style, will follow at the Campbell’s Bay R.A. Centre.  In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to the St. John Evangelist Parish, Campbell’s Bay, Quebec.

“Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
