Obituary of William Ryan

Of Ottawa, ON and Sheenboro, QC, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the age of 71 years, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 20, 1943 in Wareham, Mass., USA, to the late Najala (Nee Kawaja) and the late William Talmadge Head (Purple Heart/Silver Cross). Following his father’s death in WWII, his mother remarried to the late James W. Ryan (QC) and the family moved to North Sydney, Nova Scotia for ten years and then on to Alberta. Upon his arrival in Ottawa from Edmonton, at the age of 19, he met the love of his life, Rosita Walker. Married 49 years, Bill (Grindy) and Rosita raised a wild and fun loving family and had many adventures together in Newfoundland, Ontario and Quebec. Bill was highly regarded throughout his career in the financial industry in Eastern Ontario. Adored by his four children: Dale (Christine), Lisa, Tracey (Glenn Silverson), and James (Sophal). Devoted grandfather to Liam, Ryan, Emma-Rose, Tyler, Alyssa, Zacharie & Aquilina. Loving brother to Joan McNulty (John) of Chesterville and Catherine Offierski (Peter) of Peterborough. Bill loved creating, whether restoring furniture, crafting beautiful wooden treasures for friends and family, or tending lovely landscaped gardens for all to enjoy. Always accompanied by a cherished dog friend throughout his life, he treasured wildlife and the outdoors. Bill will be remembered for his detailed story telling and humorous surprise endings. Gracious, charming and kind, Bill drew people to him and will be missed by many. Above all, as a man of great faith, he was a gentle, thoughtful and devoted father. He was a pillar of strength to his children who admired him for his patience and positive disposition.
