Obituary of Marjorie Smith (nee Webb)

Marjorie passed away suddenly on September 13th, 2018, while at St. Joseph’s Manor in Campbell’s Bay. She joins her late husband Ebert Smith and her parents William & Jennie Webb (Elliott). Predeceased by her sisters Grace and Laura and her brother Gordon. She is survived by sisters Doris and Jean and by her children, William (June), Dale (Siobhan), Eric (Debbie), Sheila, Kathy (Jody). She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who will dearly miss her. Mom lived independently in Elmside until she was 92 in the home she and Ebert built on the family farm in1975, after retiring from farm life. She loved to cook and bake, widely noted for her wonderful pies ,chicken soup, and buns – a fragrant form of local currency - which she distributed freely to her children and to the neighborhood in general. She loved her euchre games and learned bridge in her 70s.

Picking corn or piling wood with Ebert were just two of her other retirement hobbies. And with her heart of gold, charity was generous and automatic. She was an active member of Women’s Institute, Guild and Hospital Auxiliary. For the past two years she has been part of the St. Joseph’s family where she received excellent care. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. McLellan and the staff at the Lotus Clinic.
